Abstract

Human trafficking is one of the social problems faced by the people of East Nusa Tenggara.  This problem demonstrates the degradation of human dignity as the image of God. The human body, which is a representation of God's presence, has been turned into a commodity that can be sold and treated unfairly. Using a literature study method and a descriptive-reflective approach, this article attempts to uncover cases of human trafficking that have long been embedded in the lives of the people of East Nusa Tenggara. Compiled from various literature, such as John Paul II's theology of the body as the main framework of this paper, the Social Teachings of the Church, and modern philosophical thought, this article is based on these materials. Therefore, all forms of actions that destroy the body are part of the degradation of human existence as the image and likeness of God.
