A set of English Speaking Instructional Materials for the Hosts of Home-cooking Class in Yogyakarta

Abstract


Tourism sector has grown its branches which become popular recently. One of the branches that become a popular trend is the local-authentic tourism experiences. In Yogyakarta, this trend is developed to several tourism experiences, and one of them is home-cooking class experiences. This kind of job faced a challenge where the hosts still need to learn in mastering the English speaking skills to give the best service to their guests.

 

The aims of this research to make a set of English speaking instructional design materials for the hosts of home-cooking class. This purpose is based on the research questions that this research has; First, how is a set of English instructional materials designed, and what will the designed materials look like.

 

This research uses a method that is concerned with designing the instructional material, therefore the researcher conducted educational Research and Development (R & D) to be used as the method of this research. The data for this research were taken specifically in Nitiprayan Area, Yogyakarta as the place where the home-cooking was held. This research applied Communicative Language Teaching as the approach to design the materials.
