Abstract

In the era of digital advancement, improving students' digital literacy skills has become important in order to effectively incorporate technology into their education. This study aims to investigate the understanding of the terms "gamification" and "gamification factors" on these two online websites: Quizizz and Duolingo. The subject of this research is 40 students of the University of Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa who studied English Education from batch 2020–2022. This study used quantitative methodology. The data were taken from a questionnaire. Additionally, the study emphasized the significance of student training and professional development programs for improving digital literacy skills by giving students the knowledge and skills they need to use digital tools and technologies well. This study promotes the use of gamification-based learning platforms like Quizizz and Duolingo and places an emphasis on the digital literacy skills of potential students. The findings show that many students already have experience with these two online platforms, but they are not aware of the term "gamification" on these platforms.
