Abstract
Speaking skill plays a significant role in the process of exchanging thoughts in communication. As a tool to convey ideas in the communication process, speaking capability is expanded through the use of a foreign language (English). It is stated that the primary goal of English learning is enhancing speaking ability. Relating English learning as toe research context, the implementation of English teaching and learning is applied in Senior High School. Senior High School students’ levels to perform English speaking skills are distinctive. That is why, the research carries out reflection activities to monitor students’ challenges and help them find meaning as a path to solve the problem.
The study consists of 4 research questions. The questions are 1) What challenges did the students of X Social at SMAK Sang Timur face in speaking English? 2) How did Buod and friends’ reflection model help students process the challenges of speaking? To answer the issued questions, this study uses a qualitative content analysis method to gain answers from participants. The processes of data gathering include decontextualization, recontextualization, categorization, and compilation.
