Abstract
Abstract. This paper explores the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in supporting creative writing among students from the English Language Education Study Program (ELESP) at Sanata Dharma University. With this technology, which has become available via ChatGPT and Sudowrite, it has actually opened up opportunities for students to solicit help from AI in generating ideas, polishing language use, or structuring narratives. This research employs discourse analysis as its methodological framework to study students' interactions with AI-generated content and how these interactions interact with their writing process. Additionally, it investigates students' notions of AI in creative writing, including how they perceive benefits and challenges from their experiences. The findings of this research could inform AI integration in educational settings related to creativity because it inspires writing.
