Abstract

Punk Scholars Network (PSN) is an international organization focused on scholarly and academic forum. Since 2012, PSN has been organizing academic symposiums, publications, and discussions for both formal and informal academic scholars interested in popular culture particularly in punk and post-punk. Its concomitant, PSN Indonesia also had such symposium held annually in these past 3 years. This paper aims to explore PSN Indonesia impact in fostering critical thinking to its symposium participants. Hence, three questions were formulated: What are the roles of PSN Indonesia in presenting the academic side of punk? How does PSN Indonesia nurture the critical thinking of its members? And to what extend does PSN Indonesia promote critical learning in non-formal education context? Using both quantitative and qualitative methods, this paper argues that PSN Indonesia becomes an informal space of education in fostering critical thinking which was fostered through its informal symposiums.
