Abstract

This research aims to increase student independence and learning outcomes in Genetic Material through the application of a combination of Flipped Learning (FL) and Think Pair Share (TPS) for class XII Science. The design follows the Khemis-Tagart model of classroom action research, consisting of two cycles, each cycle consisting of action planning, action implementation and observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 34 students. The object of the research is student independence and genetic material learning outcomes.

The results showed that the students' psychomotor skills were very good. The post-test results in the first cycle were good, between 50-90 with a mean reaching 73.53 and a mode with a score of 70; class completion reached 76.47%. The results of the post-test in the second cycle were better, between 30-100 with the mean reaching 71 and the mode at a score of 80; class completion reached 70.59% as expected. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the FL and TPS learning models has succeeded in increasing student independence and learning outcomes in Genetic Material class XII IPA2 SMAN 5 Yogyakarta for the 2019/2020 academic year.
