Abstract
The phenomenon of childfree is a conscious decision by an individual or couple not to have children. This has become a contemporary bioethical issue that has sparked debates on morality and the Catholic faith. Freedom and human rights are used to justify this decision, particularly the right to determine one's own life and body. Nevertheless, the Catholic Church views life and procreation as integral to the human vocation and cooperation with God, the Giver of life. This study explores the phenomenon of childfree from a bioethical perspective, considering the relationship between personal freedom, moral responsibility, and the meaning of a life of faith. The approach used is a reflection on moral philosophy, moral theology, and the Magisterium. The results of this study suggest that human freedom is not primarily characterized by unlimited autonomy, but rather by a freedom directed toward goodness, love, and life. The decision to live childfree must be viewed not only from the perspective of individual rights but also from the dimension of the Christian vocation.
