Abstract
The phenomenon of social media use among young people has both positive impacts and serious challenges. Social media has become a space for self-expression, but it also often triggers hasty attitudes, digital conflicts, and social rifts. Wise living is characterized by a cautious attitude in preserving local wisdom, but in the digital age, the caution that should be exercised in accessing and disseminating content is often neglected. As a result, there is still a lot of content containing violence, threats, and abusive language. This study examines the Lampung proverb “Mak pelok ki lemoh, mak putus ki kendugh” and the Pasemah proverb “Ame dek tau ngiluki dide merusak jadilah” as moral guidelines relevant to the younger generation. Both proverbs contain messages of caution, responsibility, and awareness of maintaining fragile situations so that they do not deteriorate further. This study attempts to answer three main questions: How does the use of social media affect the attitudes and social relations of the younger generation? What is the philosophical meaning of the Lampung and Pasemah proverbs in providing moral guidance?; and how can the revitalization of local proverbial values serve as ethical guidelines in facing the challenges of digital communication? Using a philosophical-conceptual analysis method through literature study, the research findings show that local proverbs can be revitalized as a moral compass in the era of social media. The internalization of their values encourages the younger generation to be more critical, responsible, and have integrity, while contributing to building a harmonious digital society.
