ENGLISH PHONETICS COURSE FOR EDUCATION STUDENTS

Abstract
This course teaches how speech sounds work in English. Students will learn twomain ideas about Phonetics and Phonology. They will learn to classify the 44sounds of English using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), analyze soundpatterns across accents, and practice transcription through real-world examples. Inthis course, students will also explore common pronunciation challenges faced bysecond language learners and develop skills in recognizing and producing soundscorrectly and accurately. The course will include theoretical understanding andpractical exercises, such as phonetic transcription drills and comparative analysisof different English varieties. Students will also participate in interactive classroomdiscussions, group activities, and guided listening exercises to improve theirphonetic skills. In this course, students must apply their knowledge in practicalcontexts, including presentation and oral assessment. As a student majoring ineducation, the phonetic course is important because English education studentsmust be able to pronounce words correctly and accurately. In this course, studentscan find many common mistakes in pronouncing a word in English, which can bea long-term learning that is important to remember.
