Abstract

Blue Economy is part of sustainable economic growth through the environmentally friendly use of marine and freshwater resources. Clean and healthy river ecosystems significantly impact community health and economic prosperity. One solution to river pollution is using eco-enzyme solutions made from natural ingredients, which can improve river health. This research employs a literature review method to elaborate on eco enzymes, the Blue Economy, and sustainable river ecosystems. Bibliometric analysis maps eco enzyme's relationship with clean and healthy river ecosystems for sustainable economic growth. This study aims to develop a model system from eco enzyme mapping as an alternative strategy towards a sustainable river economy, focusing on rivers in Yogyakarta province. The eco-enzyme model system is expected to contribute to implementing a river-based sustainable Blue Economy. Rivers in Yogyakarta face severe pollution issues, particularly with unmanaged plastic and organic waste, affecting water quality, aquatic ecosystems, and public health. The study suggests that eco enzymes derived from organic materials through fermentation can help reduce river pollution. This model system aims to guide government and community efforts in sustainable waste management and the realization of Blue Economy goals.
