Abstract
This paper discusses the concept of humanity and violence. The author argues that instead of fighting for humanity, violence is the fruit of the harvest. Humanity should have empathy and solidarity after all, we witnessed the anomaly of the Holocaust and the corrupt New Order regime in Indonesia. This paper highlights the complexities of human emancipation and the importance of considering the wholeness of the self and the well-being of others. Humanist thinkers such as Descartes, Kant, Marx, Comte, and even Sartre were always caught in the dilemma between emancipatory intentions that also spawned violence. The paper concludes by stating that the root of human destruction lies in the anthropological and social aspects of humanity.
