Last modified: 2024-10-14
Abstract
Nowadays, the negative impact of the Digital Era has brought many young people into a crisis situation regarding moral values. As a result, more and more young Catholics are unable to develop in faith and commitment to love God and fellow human beings. Faith education given to young people both in the family, church, and formal schools seems unable to overcome the impact of this Digital Era. Pope Francis, in the apostolic exhortation Christus Vivit, gives some special attention to the faith education of young people. So, in this writing, the author wants to identify and describe faith education for young Catholics based on the perspective of Pope Francis in the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Christus Vivit. The method used by the author is library research. The results of this study indicate that the main focus in faith education is personal spiritual accompaniment, bringing the experience of faith to life through the community, and encouraging young people to become protagonists in the church and society. Faith education is not just a transfer of knowledge but must touch the heart and build a relationship with Christ. This article also discusses relevant pastoral strategies in fostering the faith of young people.
