ABSTRAK

Krisis ekologis global mulai dari perubahan iklim yang tidak menentu, hilangnya keanekaragaman hayati, tidak dapat dipisahkan dari keidakadilan sosial yang sistematik.  Dalam konteks ini, etika keberlanjutan tidak sekadar menjadi pertimbangan tambahan dalam pembangunan, melainkan fondasi moral yang esensial bagi peradaban baru yang adil, inklusif, dan lestari. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bagaimana prinsip-prinsip etika keberlanjutan menuntut transformasi nilai, kebijakan, dan praktik kolektif yang mengakui keterkaitan erat antara keadilan ekologis dan keadilan sosial.

Penelitian ini dibuat dengan pendekatan yang menggabungkan ilmu pengetahuan seperti filsafat lingkungan, teori keadilan, dan ekologi polotik yang kemudian menunjukkan bahwa kewajiban moral manusia tidak terbatas pada manusia dengan manusia lain di masa kini, tetapi juga meluas sampai kepada generasi yang mendatang dan seluruh bentuk kehidupan di bumi. Konsep keadilan antargenerasi dan intragenerasi menjadi poros utama dalam membangun tata kelola yang berkelanjutan. Studi ini juga menyoroti pentingnya redistribusi akses terhadap sumber daya, pengakuan terhadap pengetahuan lokal dan masyarakat adat, serta partisipasi demokratis dalam pengambilan keputusan lingkungan. Tanpa komitmen etis yang kuat terhadap dimensi-dimensi tersebut, upaya keberlanjutan berisiko menjadi kosmetik atau sekadar solusi teknokratis yang hanya dilakukan melalui teknologi yang gagal menyentuh akar struktural dari krisis ganda ini. Oleh karena itu, etika keberlanjutan harus menjadi kompas moral yang membimbing transisi peradaban menuju tatanan yang menghormati batas-batas manusia sekaligus menjamin keadilan sosial bagi seluruh umat manusia.

Abstract

Global ecological crises ranging from unpredictable climate change to biodiversity loss are inseparable from systemic social injustices. In this context, sustainability ethics is not merely an ancillary consideration in development but an essential moral foundation for a new civilization that is just, inclusive, and ecologically resilient. This paper aims to examine how the principles of sustainability ethics demand a transformation of values, policies, and collective practices that recognize the profound interconnection between ecological justice and social justice.

The research employs an interdisciplinary approach, integrating insights from environmental philosophy, justice theory, and political ecology, demonstrating that humanity’s moral obligations extend beyond present human beings to future generations and all forms of life on Earth. The concepts of intergenerational and intragenerational justice serve as central pillars for building sustainable governance. The study also highlights the importance of redistributing access to resources, recognizing Indigenous and local knowledge systems, and ensuring democratic participation in environmental decision-making. Without a strong ethical commitment to these dimensions, sustainability efforts risk becoming merely cosmetic reduced to technocratic solutions that rely solely on technology and fail to address the structural roots of this dual crisis. Therefore, sustainability ethics must serve as a moral compass guiding civilizational transition toward an order that respects planetary boundaries while guaranteeing social justice for all humanity.
